Community litter-pick tidies up the village

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped on Saturday 10 February, bags and bags of litter and rubbish were collected so that our lanes and hedgerows now look tidy again.

As usual, some strange items were found in some strange places but, sadly, the numbers of discarded tin cans, plastic and glass bottles, fast food wrappers, crisp packets and other litter were making the parish look very untidy

Dark Skies Festival: February 10th to 18th

Buriton is a special place in the South Downs International Dark Skies Reserve

Buriton is one of only a handful of ‘Dark Skies Discovery Sites’ in the National Park – which is why everyone is encouraged to minimise unnecessary external lighting and ensure that any lights only send light downwards (not up or out).

The South Downs National Park’s popular Dark Skies Festival returns from 10 to 18 February with an action-packed line-up of events.

Despite being located in the bustling south east, the South Downs remains one of the darkest areas of England, offering immense views of the universe on a clear night.

Spring Clean litter-picking morning

It's amazing how much litter accumulates along our lanes and hedgerows - and how untidy it can make the parish look

Come and lend a hand on this 'spring clean' Saturday - even just an hour will be a great help …

Please bring gloves and other equipment if you can, and report to the green triangle in Heatherfield where Fran will sort you out with a high viz waistcoat and details of where to pick.

Buriton's Wednesday Winter Warmer

Come and have a cuppa, a bowl of soup and a chat …

The popular Winter Warmers return for 2024

Come and have a soup & roll lunch and an opportunity to meet up with others from 12 noon to 2pm.

In the Seward Room at St Mary’s church.

Please spread the word to any neighbours in the parish or church congregation who you think might like to come along.

There’s no charge, although any donations will be welcome!
