An illustrated talk on the wildlife and management of the Chalk Pits Nature Reserve - valuable habitats for a variety of species (and a few surprises!)
At St Wilfrid's Church Hall, Padnell Road, Cowplain (turn east off the old A3 in Cowplain, opposite the Co-op and St Wifrid's is about 200 metres along Padnell Road on the left. Parking is available behind the church).

There was a good turn-out of villagers on 17th February to join Buriton’s popular Chalk Pits Ranger, Joe Williams, for a short conservation task morning.
There was the enticement of tea, coffee and cake as well as the knowledge that a couple of hours work brings benefits for the flora and fauna.
As Joe explains: “The Chalk Pits has some wonderful flowers, which are conserved through practical conservation efforts which would not be possible without local support.
“The work done in the winter months (including clearing some scrub and undertaking some maintenance of paths) can then be seen through the spring, summer and autumn.
Keen to make sure that parishioners know all about the Local Nature Reserve and that they consider helping to keep it in good condition, Joe Williams spoke to a packed Parish Council meeting in November.
Joe explained that he is a relatively new ranger at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park but that he has got particular responsibility for the Buriton Chalk Pits.
He feels that it is a great addition to the Country Park and he praised the Parish Council for winning the substantial Lottery Grant which has helped to improve accessibility and awareness.
