Buriton's Village-to-Village charity was able to deliver over 2,000 supplementary reading books to boost school libraries in our 'adopted' community in Ghana during October.
The joy on the faces of the children (and teachers) when they received these extra books had to be seen to be believed.
All the hard work and help provided by people in Buriton is richly appreciated 3,000 miles away in tropical Africa.
And donations from parishioners in England have helped the small charity win extra money through grants from national and international organisations.
The extra supplies of reading books help children understand English better, which then means that they can understand so much more in all the other subjects that they study.
The charity has received some lovely letters from teachers saying how much of a difference the help from Buriton is making - with children being able to go on to study at higher levels than in the past etc.
Buriton's teacher-training initiative is also making significant progress with the first ten teachers now into the final year of their courses. They will be able to help ensure that hundreds of local children get a better education - and a better chance to break out of poverty.
And doctors at the local clinic confirmed that improved sanitation, brought about by Buriton's Buy-a-Bog initiative, is reducing levels of serious illnesses and deaths.
It is great to see the so many positive effects, with every penny raised for the charity being spent 'on the ground' in Dominase - none of it is spent on any sort of administrative costs.
The charity hopes to be able to provide similar levels of support during 2016.
