Parish Proms - a great night out

"A great evening" seems to be the overwhelming reaction to Buriton's first ever 'Parish Proms'. Held in the magnificent Manor Barn on Sunday 9 September, the event contained a mixture of humorous songs and Albert Hall favourites - something for everybody - and it provided another opportunity to wave those Union Jacks and bunting.

A bargain at only £5 per person, the event still managed to raise well over £500 for Buriton's link with Dominase in rural Ghana.

Money is now being raised to help with education for schoolchildren. There are not many books in many of the village schools in Dominase and every £2 raised by the Buriton-based charity can provide a new book for the new initiative.

Reading books can make a big difference to children's opportunities to learn English at an early age - which opens the door to all subsequent learning of other subjects; and to a route out of poverty.
