Two hundred and fifty schoolchildren walked to meet together on the top of the South Downs this month in a unique celebration to mark the Olympic Games and the schools' links with rural Ghana.
Children from Buriton Primary School and Ditcham Park Juniors met near to the Coulters Dean Local Nature Reserve and sent their best wishes to children in the parish's link village of Dominase.
Each school had made a special Olympic Torch which they exchanged in a small ceremony before medals were awarded to all the participants.
The medals were presented by Chris Pickett, manager of the British Olympic Hockey team at the Beijing and Sydney games.
The ribbons for the medals had been brought over 3,000 miles from Ghana and each one illustrated the bright colours of the national flag.
The 'Olympic Walkathon' was supported by the South Downs National Park Authority and funding for the medals had been provided by Buriton Parish Council and East Hampshire District Council.
