Successful Christmas Tree Recycling

Money raised for new trees in the parish

Thanks to Parish Tree Warden Matt Marriott, £135 was raised on January 8th to help buy more new trees for the parish.

Despite appalling wet weather the novel scheme attracted a steady flow of parishioners.

The initiative, which is part of the community’s wider work to help nature, also attracted interest from local radio stations. Coverage by Shine Radio can be heard here.

It is hoped that more and more people will take part each year. Recycle your Christmas trees locally – and raise money for a very good cause.

The Parish Council is also asking EHDC to plant new trees at the village pond – to help mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Although the willow that was damaged last year may re-shoot, it will never provide the same coverage. New trees could help screen parked cars and enhance the look of the area.
