On the day that the Olympic Torch passes through part of the parish, Piers Burton-Page limbers up for the Games with a very surprising history of an Olympic opera.
Over fifty composers have all used the same story – a tale set at the Ancient Olympic Games which involved cheating, civil disobedience, death threats, broken engagements and much else besides.
Who will win gold? Will the runner be disqualified? What happens to the Cretan runner? What will happen to the King’s daughter?
