Charity walk is a boost for books

Sponsored walkers from Buriton were amongst the first to set foot along the Shipwrights Way in March following an official opening ceremony.

The occasion raised money and awareness for the community's 'Village-to-Village' projects in rural Ghana.

Walk organiser Terry Owens said: ?It was a very successful day despite the inclement weather. There was an excellent turn out. We registered about 70 people at the start of the walk, which was very encouraging.?

Money raised will go towards the charity's latest campaign - to buy reading books for schoolchildren in Ghana to help improve their educational opportunites.

Grateful thanks are expressed to everyone who took part or who sponsored any of the walkers.
