Drumming lessons, free samples of 'Divine' FairTrade chocolate and signed raffle prizes from comedy writer and actress Miranda Hart were amongst the attractions in the Village Hall - but Comfort Appiah, who had travelled all the way from Dominase in Ghana, was the star of the show!
With financial help from other sources, Buriton's Village-to-Village Charity had arranged for Mrs Comfort Appiah, the Leader of the Village-to-Village Group in Dominase, to visit Buriton for about two weeks - almost her first ever journey outside Ghana. She is a remarkable lady - and everyone who met with her on Saturday 12th May found her to be charming and inspirational.
The awareness-raising 'fun day' also featured displays of artwork by children of Buriton Primary School, an exhibition of aspects of African history and explanations by Liz Pillans of Petersfield-based Cocoa Moon of how cocoa beans grown in Buriton's sister community of Dominase make their way into the FairTrade bars of chocolate sold in local shops: ?From bean to bar?.

And there were maps, photographs and film shows about Buriton's link with Dominase - including details of work to improve water supplies, health facilities, sanitation and education.
Drum expert Kwame Bakoji-Hume provided entertainment throughout the afternoon and thanked the organisers for their support and commitment to his countrymen in Ghana.
