Welcome to Buriton

The solar system - in fruit
Cloudy skies meant that Buriton's innovative star-gazing party had to stay indoors. But experts from Hants Astro turned St Mary's church into a mini-planetarium for the evening and engaged the audience with images projected onto the walls and ceiling - and, with the help of local children, demonstrated the expanse of the solar system by using fruit!

Ringing the changes
Three hundred years ago Buriton church was struck by lightning and partly destroyed by fire. To mark the exact anniversary of the fateful day, Buriton's bell-ringers rang a quarter peal on the morning of Saturday 17 November 2012 and, in the afternoon, gave a public demonstration with opportunities for anyone to have a go at ringing the bells.
