Buriton’s Jubilee Festival – can you help?

Buritons Jubilee Festival - appeal for help

A message from the organisers …

A series of events is being planned for the four-day holiday weekend in June: Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th.

Details of activities on each of the four days will be revealed in due course – but in the meantime the organisers are seeking help with the following:

  • Can you lend any memorabilia from past important village celebrations (not necessarily just royal ones). They would be labelled carefully in order to return them safely after the events. The collection of mugs, tins, cards, pictures, stamps, clothes etc. etc. will form an exhibition for everyone to enjoy in the Manor Barn.
  • It is also hoped to produce a commemorative ‘magazine’ as a lasting souvenir of the Festival to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and contributions are welcomed. If you would like to submit Queen-related short poems or stories, cartoons, photos, drawings/art work or any other suitable contribution we will try and include as many of them as possible. Get creative, young and old, and you will help to create another lasting piece of Buriton’s history!
  • Donations of purple fabric (in any shade, plain or patterned) as well as purple/mauve buttons are sought. Please leave contributions in the Jones’ porch at Lynchets, Bones Lane – this plea will all make sense eventually, we promise!

One of the main events planned will take place on the Recreation Ground on Friday 3rd June. This will be free to attend with music, games, food and (most importantly) fun for all the family. Parish Councillor Lee Lloyd is coordinating this event with the help of others and all offers of help and assistance are welcomed.

It’s intended to make this a weekend to lift everybody’s spirits. If you would like to get involved in any way - tiny, small, medium or big, it all helps - please contact: Lee or Denise Lloyd (Leelloyd66@outlook.com; denise@thedirectorygroup.co.uk)
