Unanimous decision at South Downs Planning Committee

On Thursday 14 April the National Park’s Planning Committee considered the planning application to develop a field near the Greenway Lane roundabout for up to 60 holiday lodges, spaces for shops and cafes, a re-charge centre for electric vehicles and internal roads with about 125 parking spaces.

Representatives of the Parish Council and Village Design Group spoke at the meeting. The Parish Council’s written submission can be seen here.

The National Park’s Planning Officers recommended that the application should be refused as the proposals were contrary to many local planning policies and also to national planning guidance.

In a unanimous decision, the committee agreed with those recommendations and decided that planning permission should be refused.

A formal ‘decision notice’ should be issued soon and then the applicants have a period of six months to consider whether or not to appeal against the refusal of permission. Any appeal would be considered by a planning inspector from the Planning Inspectorate.
