Buriton’s festivities promise fun and interest for all the family

Organisers are arranging an array of events and activities to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

There will be a floral display of celebratory colour in St Mary’s church throughout the four-day holiday period – and the first day (Thursday 2nd June) will be capped by a Royal Quiz in the Five Bells at 7pm and the lighting of one of the country’s Jubilee Beacons on top of Butser Hill at about 9.30pm

Friday 3rd June will see the ‘Royal Jubilee Family Festival’ on the recreation ground – from 2pm-9pm. There will be live local music, fancy dress competitions, decorated wheelbarrow races, inflatables, a beer tent – and more. Parishioners should bring their own ‘Royal Picnics’, drinks, chairs, tables, cups and plates – less cost, less waste!

On Saturday 4th June events will be focused in the Manor Barn with a Platinum Tea Party and Memorabilia Exhibition from 2-5pm.

Events will be rounded off on Sunday 5th June when a big photograph of everyone in the village will be taken outside the church at 11am. Later in the day there will also be a special ‘Songs of Praise’ around the pond.

Please come to as many other activities as you like. All events are free of charge. Only food and drink will be chargeable.
