More trees on the recreation ground

As well as letting some of the grass grow ...

Another crab apple and an oak have been planted recently, to add to the other trees planted by the Parish Council in recent months.

It is hoped that these native species will add to the attractiveness of the village in the years to come as well as helping wildlife.

And the new mowing contract for the recreation ground will see the establishment of strips of longer grass to provide a wider range of habitats and encourage improvements in biodiversity – including important pollinator species.

These grassy margins should also help to soak up and hold back surface water run-off during heavy rain – but the large open space feel of the recreation ground should not be lost.
