Scores of people attended this new village show
The big new family event included a wide range of activities, talks, stalls and demonstrations with the free, fun-packed afternoon being held in both the village hall and on the recreation ground.
The theme of the event was all about nature, wildlife, pollinators and climate issues in the parish and, although there was a serious underlying message, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as well as finding it interesting.
There were art activities for children, findings from the moth trap, face painting and displays of artwork from Buriton school as well as ‘relove your stuff’ activities and seedling swaps.
Talks and demonstrations included a bug hunt on the recreation ground, seasonal cooking with Heinrich and energy saving tips from PeCAN as well as the official opening of the marvellous bug hotel by the winner of the nature-themed fancy dress competition.
Other stalls include bumblebee conservation experts, the RSPB, Woodlands Trust, the Hampshire Swifts Charity, HCC’s Pollinator Team, Petersfield’s Climate Action Network, South East Water, Petersfield Cycle Buddies, Buriton’s Thermal Image Camera team, the Primary School’s Uniform swap, Petersfield’s Mens Shed, Ditcham Park School’s ‘Relove Your Stuff’ team … and more.
Other aspects of the event are featured elsewhere on this website and Shine Radio’s feature recorded on the recreation ground can be found here: https://shineradio.uk/2023/04/the-p-pod-petersfield-personalities-24-april-2023-b-earth-day-in-buriton/
