Buriton Tennis Club's annual Tournament Finals had an added attraction this year.
Apart from one shower of rain, weather conditions were perfect for tennis over the weekend of September 3rd and 4th - but temperatures were hardly tropical.
Nevertheless one of the stars of the event was a yellow budgerigar which landed on the net and court-fencing during the men's doubles final on the Saturday morning.
The budgie stayed for about 15 minutes getting a birds-eye (if rather dangerous) view of an exciting game of tennis.
The bird seemed particularly attracted to the bright yellow tennis balls.
Play had to stopped for a few minutes whilst spectators tried to move the bird to a safer vantage point.
?Everyone was worried that the budgie might get hit by a ball and be injured? explained one of the onlookers ?and none of us would have been able to give it the right tweetment!?
The thrilling doubles match was eventually won by Max Jones and Rob Godmon. Other winners were Lynda Biddlecombe (Ladies Singles), Lucy and Denise Cousins (Ladies Doubles) and Sam Jones in the Men's Singles final.
In the Mixed Doubles Lucy Cousins and Rob Godmon retained the title that they had won in 2010. Not even the intervention of a budgie could knock Lucy and Rob off their perch.
