Tim says goodbye after 30 years

Queen Elizabeth Country Park’s Manager retires

Tim Speller came to Buriton’s local Country Park in 1995 and has been a great contact and friend of the community for all that time.

Amongst many highlights of cooperative working with the parish council and community groups was taking over the responsibilities for Buriton’s Chalk Pits Nature Reserve from the District Council and amalgamating it into the Country Park’s responsibilities.

Wildlife wins big in Buriton

Local nature reserve expands thanks to supporters

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust has recently announced the expansion of Buriton’s Coulters Dean Nature Reserve, made possible by a generous gift left in a Will and a £50,000 donation from Southern Co-op.

The funding has enabled the Trust to almost double the size of the reserve and increase the amount of chalk grassland by four times, transforming its ability to protect one of the UK’s rarest habitats.
