Cat missing since 29th December in Bones Lane / Heatherfield area

Please check sheds and garages

Dudley, a very distinctive ginger cat who only has one eye, has been missing since 29th December.

His owners are convinced that he is nearby and fear that he may have been inadvertently locked into a garden shed or garage – or perhaps he is with someone who is feeding him and enjoying his company.

If you have any information, please call 01730 268250 or 07824 391363.

Christmas Charity Tractor Run through Buriton

Raising money for good causes

A convoy of tractors, all decorated in Christmas lights, is due to leave Petersfield at about 5pm on Saturday 17th December and will come into Buriton along Greenway Lane, passing through the High Street and leaving via North Lane and Nursted.

The charity run is raising money for the Hampshire Air Ambulance service. People with collection buckets will be walking with the tractors and all donations will be gratefully received.

After Nursted the tractors will travel to South Harting, Nyewood, Rogate, Liss and back to Petersfield for about 7.15pm.

South Downs Way: 50th anniversary celebration in Buriton

Schoolchildren mark special occasion

For over 20 years Buriton was the western start and end point of the South Downs National Trail – with the extension to Winchester only being added more recently – and schoolchildren turned “nature detectives” recently to take part in a special celebratory walk.

The ramble took place after a beautiful plaque had been presented to the village by the South Downs National Park Authority.

The engraving celebrates Buriton as the original starting point for the South Downs Way and will be given pride of place in the village hall.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

  • the flag on St Mary’s church will be flown at half-mast on Friday 9th September; it will be flown at full mast on Saturday for the new King; and it will then return to half-mast until the funeral
  • a condolence book will be available in the church from 8am until 9pm each day until Monday 12th September and, thereafter, will be available from 8am to 6pm.
