Another potential development at the Greenway Lane roundabout.
The outcome of the Public Inquiry into the Re-Charge One planning application for up to 60 eco-lodges, cafes, shops and over 120 parking spaces will not be known for some time. The National Park’s planners had unanimously refused permission for this development but the developers appealed to the Government’s Planning Inspectors to try to get that decision changed. There is information about that planning application and the public inquiry here.
There is now another emerging proposal for a different field near the Greenway Lane roundabout.
It is being described as an 80 bed hotel with an accompanying café and cycling centre.
The Parish Council is trying to find out as much information as possible about this new scheme and has contacted agents working with the prospective developers:
- No planning application has yet been submitted - so there is not yet a clear proposal to comment on
- A public exhibition is being arranged by the developers and will be held on Thursday 9th March (3pm to 6pm) in St Peter’s church hall, Petersfield
- The developers are also arranging an on-line opportunity for public comments which will probably be ‘live’ for about 2 weeks (possibly 6th-16th March)
- Comments received will go directly / only to the developers who will consider them before they make their planning application
- At present it is felt that their planning application could be made in late April or May
- This would provide the formal opportunity for parishioners (and others) to make comments to the National Park Planning Authority, for them to take into account when coming to their decision
- The Planning Authority would decide whether to refuse or approve the planning application later in the year in a meeting which would be open to the public.
The Parish Council will continue to try to find out more about this proposal.
