Public Exhibition about new housing proposals

Monday 17 May (4.30 - 6.30pm) on the Recreation Ground: informative and well-attended

With the Planning Application for ten new houses adjacent to Greenway Lane having been submitted by the developers (SDNP/21/02014/FUL), the Parish Council arranged this public exhibition so that parishioners could look at the proposals and ask questions.

Normally this sort of event would have been held in the Village Hall - but the Covid regulations currently prevent this. Monday 17th May was, however, the first day that larger gatherings (up to 30 people) could be held outdoors and so the Parish Council arranged this event on the Recreation Ground.

Five of the developer's experts (including architects, planners and drainage experts) travelled from as far away as Essex to answer questions and five Parish Councillors were also on hand to help with information about how anyone can respond to the Planning Application (as well as noting ideas and comments to help inform the Parish Council's own response).

Illustrations of the proposed layout of the site and pictures of how the houses should look when completed were available for visitors to take away as well as a detailed 'Design & Access Statement' which forms part of the planning application. Although all this information can be viewed on the Planning Authority's website (see below) a small number of spare copies are still available for anybody who was unable to attend the event.

For anyone wishing to have their comments considered by the Planning Authority (before they make their decisions about the proposals) it will be important to  submit them by 26th May. Full details of the proposals can be found via this website: https://planningpublicaccess.southdowns.gov.uk/online-applications/ and by then putting the reference number SDNP/21/02014/FUL into the ‘Keyword’ box.

Comments can also be submitted via the website or can be sent to planning@southdowns.gov.uk quoting the reference SDNP/21/02014/FUL.

The Parish Council submission is attached at the foot of this webpage.
