The new houses on Greenway Lane

Latest updates

The Parish Council continues to try to work closely with the new owners of the housing site (Imperial Homes) and with the SDNPA Planning Officers who will monitor the construction.

Imperial Homes have submitted details of their Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) which is required to show how the construction work considers aspects of environmental protection and minimises impacts on people and the environment.

New affordable homes in Buriton

More news about the forthcoming houses on Greenway Lane

The Parish Council has sought more information about this housing development from Housing Officers at East Hants DC and can update as follows:

As already known, 4 of the 10 homes are due to be built as affordable units: three homes for rent and one as a form of intermediate affordable housing such as shared ownership. All are due to be 2-bedroomed properties and all are due to have solar panels and air source heat pumps making them relatively efficient to live in.

Planning officials from Oman visit Buriton

Part of a fact-finding trip to study national park ideas

A group of senior Government officials swopped the sweltering 41 degree heat of Muscat for a more bearable 14 degrees in Buriton early in June.

The visitors, including the country’s Director-General of Spatial Strategy in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Planning, spent a full day with representatives of Buriton Parish Council and others in the community.

Imperial Homes buy Greenway Lane housing site?

Metis Homes appear to have sold the land to another developer - and more updates

When residents close to the new housing site told the Parish Council that they had received short letters from Imperial Homes suggesting that building work would be beginning imminently, the Council contacted both the developer and the planners to find out more – and to stress that the community must be involved throughout the entire construction process.

The planners have been very helpful but no information has yet been received from Imperial Homes other than a short message explaining that their contact person for this project will be Richard Paine.

£100 fine paid for dog fouling in Buriton

EHDC Dog Wardens catch culprits on regular patrols

District Council Dog Wardens have recently issued a £100 Fixed Penalty Notice to a Buriton resident for failing to pick up after their dog had fouled.

Following requests from the Parish Council, wardens now make regular visits to the village and their patrols include the pond area, the High Street, the recreation ground, Glebe Road, Sumner Road and along Petersfield Road – and elsewhere.

There are plenty of bins in the village for dog waste in sealed bags – but no excuses…

Decision on Re-Charge One Planning Application

Unanimous decision at South Downs Planning Committee

On Thursday 14 April the National Park’s Planning Committee considered the planning application to develop a field near the Greenway Lane roundabout for up to 60 holiday lodges, spaces for shops and cafes, a re-charge centre for electric vehicles and internal roads with about 125 parking spaces.

Successful litter-picking morning

Many thanks to everyone who helped on 19th March

A large amount of litter was collected from all around the village.

Arrangements are being made for EHDC to pick the litter all along Greenway Lane as this is deemed unsafe for volunteers.

Special thanks go to Adam and Hannah Griffiths in Heatherfield for hosting this event again and to The Nest for the very welcome cups of coffee at the end.

Update about housing proposals for Buriton

Greenway Lane planning application approved

The application for 10 new houses on Greenway Lane was considered at the National Park’s planning committee on 10 March and was approved.

The Parish Council and village design group both spoke at the meeting as well as the developers but there were no other speakers from the village.

In the period since the February meeting (reported here), the planners had explored opportunities to provide a footpath all the way along Greenway Lane but it had not been possible to achieve this.
